Are you a Jet or a Shark?

We were mentally  prepared for the car ride yesterday.  They had to watch West Side Story while my husband drove.  They had to.  They were captive.  They couldn't leave the car while he was driving. We were goading them along by shaking our heads and saying  things  like, "Well, we really don't know if you will understand this movie....very mature themes, not sure if you're ready for this."   Unbelievable how that stuff works.  They had to launch some type of protest against a musical from 40 years ago, but they were definitely at the least, curious.  When we got to  my youngest daughters college. we witness the exact opposite of the movie!   Here we see  well dressed, well behaved kids ...studying and  thinking and visibly working hard in groups or alone .( we were in the junior and senior engineering building, so the students are serious and motivated to have made it this far)  But  the difference was palpable!  Then  we go to  mass  in an all denomination chapel and witness students attending mass reverently receiving Holy Communion and actively participating. The car ride home way easy..how could they not be  thoughtful and thankful?  I think we are all beginning to see our mandate to make this world a better place.
