I get to the gym late morning...perfect for me..it is just me and the seniors in the whole place. It is very efficient, I do my thing and they do their thing. They are a good group! Most of their conversations are about how happy they are.....just to be there. Occasionally they will invite me "Would you care to join us for brunch today to celebrate Harolds 85th?" Well, there is this one couple that have been faithfully exercising the past 3 weeks. The elder guy is blind, he uses a walking stick to prod everything before he moves. The wife apparently decided to put him on an exercise regimen and this is all new to him.
She directs him every step of the way and stands beside him while he uses the machines. Like a hawk. She is focused and on a mission and doesn't take any slack from him. I was reading while on an upright stationary bike...this man was on the bike directly in front of me, and had just finished. The gentlemen was starting to wipe off the equipment with a disinfectant spray when one of the wife's long time friends came to see her. The woman was so happy to see her old friend, she sort of forgot about the husband with the spray cleaner.
I was directly behind them. And I guess he wanted to get a jump on cleaning the machine and so started squirting the disinfectant without her supervision. He is squirting me and squirting me and squirting me (how clean does he want the machine?) I am trying to move out of the stream but it is too unpredictable..finally she glances at him and says, "ok, I think that's good enough." Just had to tell someone that story...
Glad to read a good clean blog!
