Yesterday the plumber showed up at my front door at 7am. I was still in my jammies. Poor guy! He was more embarrassed than I was. That is pretty much how the day progressed...I had the whole schedule for yesterday on the wrong day ...
So, when I picked up my son from practice I immediately said, "What's wrong?" he said, "Mitochondria! Why do I have to learn about mitochondria? I don't like mitochondria, I don't care about mitochondria, I have no interest in mitochondria." I said, "WHAT! But mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell!" (I am a nurse, so this stuff is close to my heart). He looked at me and said, "What difference does that make?" "Well, just becoming aware of the beauty ...and order ...and miracles in science make you a better and smarter person. Once you open your mind to the complex simplicity of nature your awareness transforms to appreciation and then hopefully awe ...and all of this makes you a better person, because you appreciate..' After a very short pause of consideration he said, "Does that mean I have to care about ribosomes now too?"

Hi! Thanks for following my blog :) I came over for a visit during a study break, and of course I clicked on the post entitled "mitochondria." Being a medical student, these little organelles are close to my heart, too :) I'm now following!
