Why 50 is better than 20

Tonight is bunko. When we first moved into our neighborhood I wanted so much to meet my neighbors and be accepted. I couldn't wait to  somehow be included and was  happy at the chance to be  part of this group ....I remember coming home from the first bunko.  My kids were rooting for me, and said, "How was it?"  and I answered, "Good!  I won.  I had the most losses."  My oldest  (competitive)son  became concerned, "WHO  are you playing with?   What kind of  people award money if you lose?"  What he didn't realize is the purpose of bunko is not to eat, drink or win, but to socialize. Because were are all around 50 yrs old  we have all had  some kind of  experience with a death, divorce, cancer,  job loss etc ...and  that is why we appreciate bunko ! No one cares  about who has a bigger house, who drives the most expensive car.   If someone prepares  elaborate  appetizers great! If someone puts cracker fishes out  great too.   It doesn't matter..the point is no longer to impress.. as  we have come to know what matters most in life:  faith and relationships.
