Another Reason I Could Never Be a Teacher

My  9 year old is learning to whistle.  So he is practicing.  And practicing.  It is really kind of annoying.   I said, "You probably should not whistle in school,  it might bother some people."  He then informed me, "No...you are not allowed to.  Because once one kid starts whistling, every kid in the whole class starts whistling too.  And the teacher has to yell," Whistlers, STOP."

  1. LOL HAHAHAHAH, i say this a lot as well, thank god for educators and teachers because lord knows i would not be able to handle the level for announce children provide. with that being said i love my kids but of course my 7 year old can do things that annoy me i can not imagine a classroom full of children. wow the thought gives me anxiety.

  2. Our son was sent home from the second grade years ago for chirping. He chirped uncontrollably like a little bird for a few weeks and then it stopped. He hasn't chirped since.

  5. The poor teachers have enough to contend with now without whistling. However, most boys think that is "cool" if they can whistle. I would be pleased to join your followers.

  7. That is too funny! Thank goodness for teachers, because I too could never handle a classroom full of children whistling.

  12. Oh my...this brings back memories. I once had a little whistler too. I guess a teacher does have to deal with children whistling depending on their age.

  16. Lol, teachers are amazing! They definitely don't get all the praise they deserve. But I am sure that you are one of the best teachers since you have taught 8 children. Mothers are the best teachers.

  18. I taught for many years! The cute thing about this story to me is that 9 year olds stop whistling when the teacher tells them too. Junior high students, which was the age group I taught, would have taken a "stop" as a personal invitation to whistle at every opportunity whenever the teacher's back was turned. I don't miss that! I am following you. Thanks for visiting me!

  22. Funny! I can only imagine the frustration and then...patience (!) that teachers must possess to lovingly direct and teach our kids the way to go. What blessings they are! :)

  26. Both of my in-laws are teachers and I couldn't do it :) I love my kids, but a class full of other people's kids would be more than I would want to deal with! I agree with you about the whistling :)

  27. Thanks for stopping by my space. Yours is lovely. You have a follower in me. Also, as a teacher I can tell you...this and MORE happen on a daily basis. One time I had to say MEOWERS stop. Yes, they were meowing like kittens...in the 5th grade. :) Never a dull moment but I love every single minute of it.

  28. I'll add whistling to my reasons why I could never be a teacher too. But the nose picking, sneezing and smells have to be first, I have a weak stomach with other peoples kids' bodily functions.

  50. LOL reminds of Arnold Schwarzenegger's character in the movie Kindergarten Cop, he was trying to fit into the teacher role. Needless to say, rough start with the kiddos! When he lost it, the one kid started crying, started chain reaction to the rest of the class LOL

  51. hilarious...but so true, i am a whistler but only if someone starts it! whistling is contagious and annoying!

    following you now.

  52. lol!!! I know that cause I was a teacher to 100 17 year olds(Yeah, in india we have 100 students in a class) and i had to say STOP all the time..:D Over a period of time you learn to control the class with only your eyes and all you have is a quiet and attentive class!!
    Sigh, I miss teaching...

  53. Welcome to my world! All it takes is one student and all of my students start to sing... dance... you name it! They do it!

  57. My oldest Grandchild is going to be a school teacher that is why she is in University to study but if that happened she would love it kids whistling. She wants to teach primary classes. She loves music. She entered a singing conest outside her home town last week. She had a good step up as a good preformer and keeps her public glued to her. To have a recording single they said. So she would love that. Ha,ha. Up her alley. Cute story as always. My husband comes for big family. So I am glued to your blogs big time. Brings back memeories.

  58. LOL!!! I AM teacher so I can totally relate to this post!!! As much as I love children (that's why I went into the profession). Having said that, it can be VERY frustrating!! Imagine your child at home (times 20-30) ALL day long, NON-STOP! That's why teachers earn the summer off!!! I now have a 11 month old at home and I'm back at work. When I get home I want to spend all my time with him, which means I end up doing HOMEWORK until I go to bed!!!!! ;-(
