Sign on a Borders store that went out of business because of Amazon.

  1. Doesn't seem very friendly! It looks like a bookstore- but usually their bathrooms are open to the public. :)

  2. Haaaaa!!!! I totally get this. My sister is a book store manager.

  3. Wow, hope that change in the hours didn't throw a wrench in peoples schedule, haha. And I'm sure Amazon has plenty of toilets..How funny! xo

  8. I miss that store!

I don't understand why they leave the sign light lit up when it's been closed for months.

That no bathroom sign is just too funny!

  9. Really too bad. I love bookstores and could probably live in one. I have an e-reader now, but I miss the feel and even the smell of new books, and still continue to buy them. I love spending the afternoon in Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million

  10. it is funny but at the same time it isn't.

I am soooooooooo anti all of the electronic readers. I pray they don't completely destroy books as we know them

  11. Love the sign. Though I don't love that they went out of business.
Would love for you to stop by and share

  12. Ouch! Oh, how I miss our Border's. It was gone months ago and the building it was in is just empty. It was so sad to see them selling all the shelves, even.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I so miss that store...and lol to their sign! Good for them!

  14. yeahhh...that says it all...xo Diana

  15. Since Amazon is a Cyber store, does that mean the bathroom is somewhere in cyberspace?

Frankly, I require an actual "book in the hand" and have yet to resign myself to the electronic readers. It's something about the smell and the feel of the book, to mark the place and then clutch it and ponder what was just read... just sayin'

    RIP Borders... RIP

  16. Funny, I have never been in one. Guess I won't be either.

  17. Sad...I am running out of bookstores to browse through....

    Happy WW!

  19. Sad...I was once guilty of only reading books (and drinking coffee) at Barnes & Noble...and buying them from Amazon, but seeing Borders go under woke me up to the fact that I need to support our brick and mortar bookstores too. Great picture! And thanks for stopping by my Wordless Wednesday!

  23. Lol. I'm sad to see Borders go too. I hope we don't lose our bookstores to online stores like Amazon. Although I DO get all my books from Amazon..err...but it's cause I never have to pay more than $5!

  24. Borders is doing very well over here on the other side of the pond. Malaysians still like to read 'real' books!!

  38. I love books...and read A LOT...however I do understand why people use amazon as books in the store are very highly priced so i but a lot of mine from there...or just use the library.

As for the 'Restrooms' sign....I shop on amazon at home so I always have a restroom available!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Love it! We miss Borders, there was one near us that we enjoyed visiting!

  40. That's funny. I work at Barnes and Noble. Many people think we are a library and come in, have us spend time looking up books for school research, sit at a table in the cafe for hours and then leave without purchasing ANYTHING! I love books. I love my job. I was sad to see Borders go.

  63. Snarky! However ... I've been in tons of Borders and Barnes&Nobles before discovering Amazon and never bought any books at either one because I could get better deals elsewhere. It's just fun to browse. ^.^

  66. You could literally buy your own bathroom on Amazon.com! Thus the name AMAZON - not one can compete! Oh well, I admit I am an Amazon shopper (and book seller!)

    ReplyDelete
  67. That is sad. I usually go to a pet store here in town that was like a mom and pop shop. Instead of going to Petco... I went to get worms for our lizards and the place was shut down! Not sure why but I just don't like Petco...now I have to go there for worms!

  73. Well the bathroom sign was funny. sandie

    ReplyDelete
  74. Gee no wonder they went out of business. Could it be that they didn't have good customer service by not providing a bathroom? Might as well just order your books on Amazon.com then if you can't even get personal service from a book store.

In this day and age, companies need to do things to stand out in the crowd, especially book stores. Still sad to see them go under though.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I miss borders :(. I loved them more than Barnes and Nobel; I'm sad to see them closed.

  78. I feel bad for the brick and mortar bookstores, but I love Amazon....we live 45 minutes away from any bookstore, so I order used books from Amazon often. It is an ironic sign...I like it.
