75 Minutes On a Sunday

More of life at the zoo...
It started yesterday 2:50pm.
The youngest son was at a swim clinic and I was on the stationary bike at the gym.  At the same time, my husband was at a qualifying wrestling tournament with the 3 middle boys.   My college daughter called and told me she had just broken off half her front tooth playing intermural hockey.  This is the third time she broke off half of that same tooth.  It looks VERY bad but does not hurt.  I told her there was not much to do now,  she would have to find a dentist tomorrow and get it fixed there.  In the meantime I texted everyone in our family to let them know this happened to her again!  The wrestlers were faring well... 2 got first place and 1 got second place..so they all advance to regionals.  The text response from one of the wrestlers was  Ha..must run in the family.  He was wearing a mouth piece as he was texting because he too broke his front tooth 3 times.  I text forwarded his response while shrugging and shaking my head... that 2 kids in the same family broke off half of their front tooth 3 different times!  The daughter with the broken tooth responded that our family seems to take these things very lightly and everyone in college is very worried. By the time my youngest was done swimming I had gone 14 miles on the bike, the boys had wrestled 6 matches, my daughter broke her tooth and I had communicated with every kid in my family.  Isn't it amazing how we can all be in different places doing different things and still be so connected to each other?

  5. My sister fell asleep in a chair and must have had her foot in a funny position because it fell asleep too. The phone startled her awake, she jumped up to get it not realizing her foot was asleep, stepped down, and took a nice tumble, catching her front tooth on a coffee table, breaking her tooth in half. She has also had it fixed 2 more times since then. I guess once you break a tooth it's pretty easy to continue breaking the same one over and over again?

  6. Sorry about your daughter's tooth, but it sounds like she will get it resolved handily.

As for the texting, I love it. I can send out a mass text to all my kids and we can all reply in a big discussion group and get plans made or issues resolved in no time at all.

    It's great!

    =)

  7. Yes, you guys sound like my family. It always feel like we are right next to each other but we are miles apart! I feel for your daughter. I used to work at a vet clinic and the Vet and I went to work stitch up a "sedated" horse that had got caught in barb wire. Well, needless to say, he was sedated. He kicked me in the mouth and popped that horse shoe a couple of times...cracked my palate and many many surgeries later I am A-OK! I hate when anyone does anything to their mouth. I just cringe! Best wishes to her today! ♥

  20. My goodness!!!! My first thought is why does it keep breaking, maybe she should try a different dentist? Or maybe wear some kind of thing to protect her mouth when playing sports? Cell pones are one of those things that I don't know what we did without!!

  23. All in the day of a big busy family =) Our Greta broke her front teeth in 10th grade in a freak accident at school. She (and us) just spent thousands of $$ getting it fixed again after 5 years. This time it's fixed correctly...we surely do hope!!

  32. Isn't it amazing how life gives us the time to balance everything. Hope the kiddo's are doing ok with their tooth situations. I've heard things happen in 3's but that's CRAZY = ) You always seem to know how to put it all in a very interesting post for everyone to go....I want to read MORE! Seriously though, wishing your kiddo's and you the best.

On a side note, I came home today and laughed after I came to BLOGGER realizing I typed away yesterday writing a blog on the ole LIEBSTER Award and shared your wonderful blog in it. Like a silly me, I forgot to go back and tell the people I gave the awards too...LOL I am amazed I passed kindergarten since I failed here at directions. = P So with that said, the Liebster goes to you cuz you write awesomely. = )

  33. Sometimes I really don't like the idea that everyone can reach out & touch me whenever they want to. It is also frustrating when my phone rings too many times at the office especially when I am on another call at the same time. I love being able to talk with loved ones but less is better for me. Have a restful night.

  34. I am glad to hear that the tooth breaking isn't painful. I am cringing every time I think about it! And it does seem to run in your famil.

It is nice to be able to be connected to other so quickly and let them know important information. Of course, sometimes my favorite thing is shutting off the ringer. :)

  49. Ah yes, the miracle of cell phones! Aren't they just the best invention? It makes me wonder sometimes how we ever survived without them. Ha! One of the things about being a mom to so many, is that you've got the experience to back it all up. I would've freaked out about my children breaking their teeth, but you've handled it before and know that it will be alright in the end. That's a good thing. It's wonderful to know that you're taking time for yourself too while everyone is "doing their thing". Sounds like you've got a good system. Thanks for stopping by and following my blog. I am now following you too.

  52. I find that the internet is great for when you live far away - it brings you closer - but when it is used all the time in the home - it brings the family apart. Too much DS in my opinion. sandie

  60. true,it is an amazing feeling to be so connected in-spite of the distances

    ReplyDelete
  61. It is wonderful to be so connected. I have siblings, children, nieces, and nephews literally all over the world, and we are as close as a text message or FB update any time.

Our Jeremy broke his front tooth when he had just turned 2 and was roller skating! They put a nice white cap on it. However, six months later he broke that. I swallowed my pride and let them fix it with a stainless steel cap. For three or four years he sported that thing every time he flashed his gorgeous smile, and he was proud of it! It came loose at the regular age and was replaced by a "permanant" tooth, which unfortunately met its demise in a car accident at age 15. Thankfully that could be fixed with a white cap.

  62. I remember the first time she broke that tooth... I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh when she texted me to say she broke it again the last two times. Only Janie!
