  2. I bet he keeps you laughing. I've known a few 6-through-9-year-old boys who are absolutely hilarious. Some kids are just born funny.

  3. Why DO people smoke? I have never understood it!
He must have been at a BBQ where someone oversmoked the meat! HA! That's pretty funny!

  4. No way, I love chicken but hate and detest cigarettes. They killed too many people in my life. They should stop making them, but that will never happen. xo

  5. LOL so funny kids say the best things!!!!

  6. Chicken? At least we know he didn't form his opinion by experience!

  7. How cute! Definitely doesn't smell like chicken though...:)

  8. Too funny! I can tell him it doesn't taste like chicken...maybe really burned chicken.

  9. Well, that would be the only "logical" reason... because, really, why would people smoke? It would "have to" taste like something good... like chicken! :)Your 8 year old is super smart!
I am so happy to have met you via your blog. Thank you for allowing me into your circle. I look forward to getting to know you better.

  10. Children can come up with some hilarious answers to adult questions. This is a case in point. I'd love to know what made him think that. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  11. i've always wondered that too. but i the real question is do they still taste the same? the ones that started smoking in the old days that are still alive ... i'm guessing they do not taste the same as they use too, right? i would think you would quit? right? i have family members on both sides that smoke. lots of them are tobacco farmers... so it is their livelihood. but also i have had family member who have died of emphysema ... so i know i never really wanted to smoke. i have tried it & don't understand. will never do it again. would rather die of natural causes. ha. ha!! you son is so funny!!! thanks, for the laugh. ha. ha!! (:

  20. That is funny. It sure doesn't smell like chicken. I lived in second hand smoke all my life until I was 25. That's how old I was when my husband stopped smoking. My mother and dad both smoked. I never did.

  24. My four year old said to me in the car "tell me about the people that breath fire and their insides turn black". At first I thought she was talking about dragons (we've read Paper Bag Princess a lot), then I realized she was talking about cigarettes and has easily internalized how disgusting they are.

  27. Although people die from choking on chicken bones, it's usually a fast death. The smoking is just a long, drawn-out death that costs more than chicken.

My husband and I are so anti-smoking and we've instilled this in our son. When he was 3 years old, my son walked straight up to a guy smoking outside a restaurant we were entering and told him, "If you do that, you're going to die, you know!" The guy just looked at him and said, "I know." We just kept walking...

    1. If a 3 year old came up to me in those circumstances and said "If you do that, you're going to die, you know!"...I would have told him that he was going to die too, because 100% of NON-SMOKERS die!

  45. My best friend smokes and I have a really hard time accepting why. Why is she choosing to damage her heath in this way. I love her so much, I just want her to stop. I finally had to agree to not harassing her about it. I told her what I though one final time a week ago and said that's my final word on the subject. I felt all my comments were just hurting her and they certainly weren't causing her to stop. Oh well, we are all grownups making our own decisions. I pray she'll stop soon!

  49. Too funny! When my firtborn was young I taught her the dangers of smoking. When she was only 4 we were at a friend's house when an adult nearby started smoking. My little angel looked up at the lady and calmly announced, "You're going to die." Oh my.
