The Beauty Of Adult Children

Oh yes..a beautiful thing.
On Friday we took the teens out of school to put them on a megabus to Phila, where they would spend the next 2 days with their older sister, exploring the city and being impressed with her high rise apartment and office. How sweet it is to wave good bye to teenage boys. My college son called to remind me to tell the boys to be careful with their electronic equipment on the bus and in the city and to always be aware. I thanked him very much for his parenting advice. Then Friday night we had a double date with my oldest daughter and her husband to toast to their first anniversary. They just could not wait to go out with us. They came into the kitchen together, beaming, happy and in love and said, "Guess what?" Smiling from ear to ear. "Well, guess what?'  I was putting the rest of the dishes away and said, "What?" My daughter said," I'm pregnant!"

  17. Congrats! Friday was our 37th anniversary! what a beautiful gift they will be giving you. It's the best. Grandchildren are the reward for all that we went through as parents, and can now just savor it all. So happy for you!

  49. HIP HIP HOOORAY!!! I think that is so wonderful what a great new adventure for you ALL. My oldest is 27 and the grandbaby is almost 6 months it has been so neat especially sense we have a 10 yr old at home so many grand things to do. CONGRATS to you all :))

  59. Oh I know your excited. I'm NOT looking forward to that day as of yet. Of course, I still have three young ones still. Maybe when they reach 25 years old, I'll be ready for it. I'm just praying that they are all married and married to the right people when they do have kids.

    I can't wait to see pictures of the grandbaby. Try and get pictures of the pregnancy as well. :)

I went through my shock phase--feeling too young to be a grandma---but the baby is here now--a gorgeous granddaughter--and I couldn't be happier. Congrats!! It will be the same for you!!!     I agree, It is great having older children. My Daughter and I have become very good friends. She is probably my very best friend next to my Husband.

  115. You just proved what our Priests often tell us - motherhood gets 'easier' with time because the older children can help with taking care of the younger ones, or something like that. :-)

    You are an encouragement to me. I am just a little younger than you but I am still in that childbearing age. Sometimes, I am scared to have another child this late mainly because of what people will say and because of some medical issues too.
