My son is 16 years old and 2 days. He got his permit yesterday and will be driving to school tomorrow with my husband. He will also be dropping off his younger brothers at their school. Tonight he gave them instructions, "When I am driving you have to be quiet. No fooling around. And everyone has to wear their seat belts." Hahaha, unbelievable!
Watching the circle of life swing around can be fun and amusing, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteThat's good stuff! We are in the permit stage here, too. My 12 year olds won't drive with their sister yet!
ReplyDeleteA different view from the drivers seat!! lol
ReplyDeleteI. WILL. CRY. My Mom didn't let me get my license until I was 18! I'm kinda glad she did though. I was responsible, but these days it seems like babies are driving around!
ReplyDeletesmiles...see they were listening...and its nice to see them being responsible isnt it...glad i still have 6 years to go...
ReplyDeleteMy 16 year old daughter is just as fastidious. Let's see how long it all lasts...
ReplyDeleteGreat instructions!! :)
ReplyDeleteDriving is the toughest stage! So much worry! Good luck!

Good advice!
ReplyDeleteHe needs to concentrate. :)
ReplyDeleteHe is taking his driving seriously!
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDelete<><
Haha!!! That's awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!!! I am sure you NEVER had to tell him that one!! HA!!!
ReplyDeleteMy son turned 16 in June and still hasn't gotten his permit. I told him to study the driving book and when he was ready I would take him to take his test and get his permit. I told him it is totally up to him (I don't really want the increased insurance right now....)A while back he told me I should be "pushing" him harder to get his license. Sometimes I feel like mom's can't win. Good luck and congrats to your son.
ReplyDeleteThe boot is now on the other foot.
ReplyDeleteAnnmarie, This kid isn't missing a beat. It's evident that he wants to be allowed to continue to drive! No fooling around by his sibblings better mess it up! With priveledges comes responsibility... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteGOOD for him!
ReplyDeleteHe's off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteVery nice older brother:)
ReplyDeleteha! who's the boss now?!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe he has his license?? I can't even imagine Charlie driving Walker around (scary thought) but I know it'll be hear way too soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is often a scary time for parents...good to hear your son is acting responsibly!
ReplyDeletehaha no fooling around! OH, I'd be scared to see my (in the future) 16 yr old to start driving... but your 16yr old is amazingly responsible! (at least he sounds like it with his words ;-) )
ReplyDeleteSpanish Pinay
It doesn't seem like two years since my daughter got her license but it has been. Gosh I was always worrying every time she left the house! She's turned out to be a pretty good driver, I hope the same for your son! Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteBuwhahahahahaha, I can TOTALLY relate to this!! Happy belated to your driving guy!
ReplyDeleteBless him....and his parents! A new driver in the family always makes me a nervous wreck. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders, through =)
ReplyDeleteDon't you hope he has that same attitude a year from now!
ReplyDeleteI loved that your son is giving his siblings such sound advice. As a parent that would make me feel slightly better. As I recall "nothing" would have removed my extreme fear related to having my teens behind the wheel. We managed through those years unscathed, though...whwhwewwww
ReplyDeleteThat's great! You've taught him well.
ReplyDeleteGlad he knows that. I'm always nervous when a bunch of my kids are together with one of them driving.
ReplyDeletehaha..sometimes it's just so funny listening to our children repeat us, isn't it?!!
ReplyDeleteAll grown up! :)
ReplyDeleteThose moments are wonderful to realize that things do rub off on our kids, even though we sometimes wonder!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
It is so completely different when they are in the driver's seat. Yes? He is being responsible and that is awesome!
ReplyDeleteFollow the leader!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a blessing to watch them mature. :)
ReplyDeleteits gotta make you feel like they listened, right? good job :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Evidence that you've taught him well!
ReplyDeleteLOL...i wonder where he learnt that from :p
ReplyDeleteaww...they grow up so fast, don't they?

Really great.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the lesson has sunk in. Good job, mom!
ReplyDeleteLet's see what he says to his friends. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour son is very lucky. If he knew the hoops kids in Oz have to jump through to get a driver's license he would be the happiest kid on earth. Good for him for laying down the driving law though :)
ReplyDeleteHaaahaaa, he is SO responsible! I LOVE IT. I wish more drivers were like him. But, I hope my kids never drive :)
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I love hearing stuff like this, kids get us a 'unresponsilbe' rap nowadays.. Thanks for the follow & I returned the favor. <3, Amy @ Trials & Triumphs
ReplyDeleteAt least he takes his driving seriously! I always have and three years after getting my license my friends STILL call me "granny"
ReplyDeleteLOL! Driving is hard when you're experienced and have kids squabbling...let alone being a new driver!
ReplyDeleteGood on him! Sounds like he went through driver's training.
ReplyDeleteFunny! Hope he keeps on being careful.
ReplyDeleteGood for him! I have two drivers now. The first was a real wake-up call. The second I was a little more relaxed. Plus, they run errands. LOL
ReplyDeleteFollowing you back via GFC! Thanks for inviting me!

Oh Lordy do I remember this time with our kids :^0 I am sure he is as excited as you are anxious, he will do well I have faith.
ReplyDeleteThat's great!
ReplyDeleteMy son just turned 18 and also just got his license. He had a permit since January. I am happy to say that he is such a wonderful driver that I can easily sleep while he is driving. With my first two children, that was not the case.
:) Hope
That is incredible! I can't imagine any of my kids driving though I suppose the eldest will next year - scary thought!
ReplyDeleteShows he paid attention in drivers training and listened to his mom....:)
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking at Weekend Blog Walk!
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember those days...the paranoia, anxiety, etc. It soon wore off (sorry to burst your bubble!) And, I'm talking about MYSELF! I can't even begin to imagine the day when my son starts to drive!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo funny...and my younger kids were so nervous to ride with my daughter...they were quiet anyway. So nice to have another driver for sure.
ReplyDeletehow scary
ReplyDelete8 more years for us. I'm already terrified!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!
ReplyDeleteI remember pulling over when my siblings were making fun of my driving and saying, "If you don't like the way I drive, get out of the car. Now." Not a peep for the rest of the drive, but man, have I copped it for the rest of my life!
ReplyDeleteYou've got one responsible kid, there! Very cool :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great man you got there
ReplyDeleteSweet instructions:) Have a blessed day! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow! Following back :)
ReplyDeleteI only have 3 children. The first will never have a driver's license. I am thrilled. The second has had her license for years. It was scary at first and I still pray for her every time I think she might be behind the wheel. My son is 17 and has shown no interest in driving. I don't mind at all. My husband wants him to start thinking about it and it scares me to my bones. You are a brave woman and your son sounds wonderful.

Isn't it the best when our sons become young adults - you must be so proud - I am of my two. My 18 yr old got his provisional licence this week so he can now learn to drive, but he can't afford to drive a family car as the insurance is around £2000 for our son per year,we have found it impossible to achieve. However, there is no hurry, UK roads are small and overcrowded.
ReplyDeleteOur youngsters here have a culture known as 'Boy Racers', I think it's a uniquely U.K thing. Most are quite sensible, but it only takes a hothead to get out of control and he and his passengers end up on the mortuary slab. I hope common sense prevails with the youngsters in the states, you wouldn't want some of our idiots.
ReplyDeleteGood for him!
ReplyDelete=)
I would be scared silly!
ReplyDeleteAs he always behaved when you were driving him around?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new driver. It was always a very stressful time for me.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Sounds responsible!
