The Cartoon Interpretation of Book Club

I asked my son to please go out to the car and get my book for book club. He and his brother started laughing, and he said, "Is it Rebecca Front Door?" I asked him what he meant and he explained on Luney Tunes the characters sat around in a circle for book club to discuss the book, Rebecca Front Door. The lady with a wide brimmed hat said, "Oh! I just loved this tragic book." The short man with the mustache said, "And when he got to her door and did not have the courage to knock...so heartbreaking so heartbreaking..." And the group nodded in agreed sadness at the pre teen who could not find the guts to knock on the girl's door, and they all start sobbing uncontrollably thinking about it, and is that what our book club is like?

  1. Kids! Did you tell them that book club is like fight club. It's all super secret and only others in book club are permitted to know what goes on there. They might be too young to know about Fight Club.

  5. I love this! My family wonders what I do at book club, too. I'll never tell them that our discussions actually have very little to do with books. :)

  13. I love to read and read a lot, but sadly I do not belong to a book club! That would mean I would have to read and talk about the book and I'm not sure I'm up for that!

  14. Too funny! My kids just know that book club means a lot of friends show up and we eat and drink and laugh! I wonder if they know we actually discuss a book?

  16. Probably a lot of truth in this humorous story. Each person's reaction to a story is a little different. Sometimes the way off the wall idea brings a pretty important point of view to the story and book club.

  20. I read ALL the time but I'm not part of any book club...I guess there are some around near where I live but to be honest I much prefer reading what I want when I want rather than reading something and then talking about it!!

  31. Yep, that's there perception of a book club, our excuse to get out of the house, eat (if meeting at restaurant), and say very little about the book.
