The Experiences of Life

My 22 year old daughter is home unexpectedly from college. Here is what she told me, "We would always just sit around and say how much fun life would be if we were in college but didn't have classes. Well, after 3 days of that, it's not we thought it would be." Their campus still has no electricity from Sandy, and classes are cancelled for the rest of the week. Oh, yes, we all live and learn, don't we?!

  7. I'm pretty sure it's a whole lot more comfortable at home, if you don't have power at school! Fun can come later.

  8. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. My kids only each missed one day of class because of Sandy.

  9. Glad that you are all safe and that the worst of Sandy for your family was some cancelled college classes. The grass really is always greener on the other side of the fence, isn't it?!

  13. How does that old Chinese proverb go? Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

  20. It is interesting how too much of a 'good' thing soon becomes mundane. I am glad your daughter is safe, and I hope things soon get back to normal at college.

  22. Glad she is safe. She can always study at home.......! My husband is in Brooklyn visiting his parents, luckily they weren't affected, we could still Skype, just a few trees down. I am more concerned that he won't be able to fly home to London on Saturday if there is a backlog of flights to clear from JFK.

  28. Sad that the college had to close because of Sandy. Fortunate that no body was hurt. Yes, sometimes we learn a lesson out of misfortune.

  38. Further endorses the old adage that one can get too much of a good thing.

  39. Oh that's so right, its like having too long a vacation and you need to get back into a routine!

    ReplyDelete
  40. And I am glad she is ok. Yes, having nothing to do is no fun...

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's hard to be bored...but I suspect what she really is, is kind of lonesome, a little scared, needs her house and her family

    ReplyDelete
  42. She needed her family!!! and a hot cocoa.

  43. Not all that fun when so many others are suffering! Good kid you're daughter is!

  44. This made me chuckle. We all get into a routine and sometimes think we are in a rut. But we have to learn that certain things come with the territory.

  45. There is no better feeling and knowledge, I guess, than knowing there is a place called home.

  51. It's funny how when something isn't our idea, it loses it's appeal. Hope things get back to normal soon.
