My 22 year old daughter is home unexpectedly from college. Here is what she told me, "We would always just sit around and say how much fun life would be if we were in college but didn't have classes. Well, after 3 days of that, it's not we thought it would be." Their campus still has no electricity from Sandy, and classes are cancelled for the rest of the week. Oh, yes, we all live and learn, don't we?!
Yes- sometimes living it is the only way we believe it~
ReplyDeletehaha i remember when we got snowed in at college and feeling much the same...
ReplyDeleteLOL. I know that goes....
ReplyDeleteOh yes, for sure! Some lessons are more painful than others. I'm glad your daughter and your family is okay.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! At least she can come home and hang with you.
ReplyDeleteTheir priorities have been right all along afterall!
ReplyDeletedoes she go to rutgers?
ReplyDeleteThat terror Sandy...so much to deal with. I am glad you daughter is safe at home with you.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's a whole lot more comfortable at home, if you don't have power at school! Fun can come later.
ReplyDeleteThere's no place like home. There's no place like home. My kids only each missed one day of class because of Sandy.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you are all safe and that the worst of Sandy for your family was some cancelled college classes. The grass really is always greener on the other side of the fence, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteGlad your daughter is safe and sound with you! Yeah, no classes loses it's appeal when there's no electricity anywhere.
ReplyDeletei know that feeling. glad that's she's safe and home with you
ReplyDeleteYes we do live and learn, as they say "The older I get, the smarter my parents become" I'm glad your daughter got to come home and be with you.
ReplyDeleteHow does that old Chinese proverb go? Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
ReplyDeleteReally good one! Great story:-) It's how kids learn

There is no place like home. sandie
ReplyDeleteWow crazy! Home is the best place to be though.
ReplyDeleteThere's no place like home and I'm glad your daughter is safe at home with you!
ReplyDeleteYep, we do live and learn right up until we kick the bucket.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your daughter is safe and home, but hoping everything will be alright soon...:)
ReplyDeletexx!
It is interesting how too much of a 'good' thing soon becomes mundane. I am glad your daughter is safe, and I hope things soon get back to normal at college.
ReplyDeletelife is a learning ground. hope things will bounce back to some form of normalcy soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad she is safe. She can always study at home.......! My husband is in Brooklyn visiting his parents, luckily they weren't affected, we could still Skype, just a few trees down. I am more concerned that he won't be able to fly home to London on Saturday if there is a backlog of flights to clear from JFK.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know your daughter is home with you safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, as the saying goes, be careful what you ask for, lol.
It's wonderful that she made it home safe but I can imagine how boring and maybe a bit eerie it had to be for her!
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
We sure do live and learn. That is a fact of life!
ReplyDeleteThe grass isn't always greener as they say :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad she is safe and sound. Make sure she knows the importance of that! Living and learning!
ReplyDeleteSad that the college had to close because of Sandy. Fortunate that no body was hurt. Yes, sometimes we learn a lesson out of misfortune.
ReplyDeleteOh dear...you mean they WANT classes now? LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh geez...well I guess it's good she came home instead of partying...in the dark?! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh- The wonderful optimism of youth!;>) Too bad it wasn't true! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt must be so nice to have her home!
ReplyDeleteNew follower from the blog hop! The grass is always greener...
ReplyDeletehehe so true little man wishes for summer break every year but by the second week of it he is bored
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your daughter is home and safe!
ReplyDeleteHappy she's safe--yes, be careful what you wish for!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a real-life experience can make! =) This is such a good post.
ReplyDeletexo,

Further endorses the old adage that one can get too much of a good thing.
ReplyDeleteOh that's so right, its like having too long a vacation and you need to get back into a routine!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am glad she is ok. Yes, having nothing to do is no fun...
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to be bored...but I suspect what she really is, is kind of lonesome, a little scared, needs her house and her family
ReplyDeleteShe needed her family!!! and a hot cocoa.
ReplyDeleteNot all that fun when so many others are suffering! Good kid you're daughter is!
ReplyDeleteThis made me chuckle. We all get into a routine and sometimes think we are in a rut. But we have to learn that certain things come with the territory.
ReplyDeleteThere is no better feeling and knowledge, I guess, than knowing there is a place called home.
ReplyDeleteHappy she is safe.
ReplyDeleteThere is no place like home..... Your home any way :)
ReplyDeleteit probably would have been a little more fun if not for the lack of everything---i am sure you are happy she is home and safe
ReplyDeleteTrue, good way to keep perspective! Thanks for the lovely comment on my blog, it made my day to hear that. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, at least she can come home, which I think must be a wonderful place to be.
ReplyDelete:) Hope
I guess there's always something good to be learned from every tragedy, eh?
ReplyDelete=)
It's funny how when something isn't our idea, it loses it's appeal. Hope things get back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your daughter is safe. Life is not always greater on the other side.
ReplyDeleteglad your daughter is safe
