Let It Snow.
Lucky Santa delivered new sleds...we have had snow on the ground since Christmas eve. And after last year's measly snowfall, the boys are so ready to play in the snow. That means endless races and gigantic ramps and king of the hill. Hours and hours of sledding. And nervous mom. And dad saying let them play, it's fun and mom yelling no standing while sledding on the ramps and dad saying let them play and mom saying shovel the driveway and kids saying let us play and mom saying no throwing ice balls and dad saying let them play and mom saying do your chores before you go out and boys saying I'll do them when I come in...some things in life just never change, do they?!

Haha! This sounds a lot like what's heard around our house. :)
ReplyDeleteSome things never change-except in our house it was kind of a reverse- I was easier going on the kids than he was...and now he is a marshmallow with the grand kids- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt was a magnificent snow, wasn't it? I have snowmen and snow forts surrounding my house. It is wonderful seeing my grandchildren having a great time playing outside in the winter wonderland.
ReplyDeletewe had snow for a few hours....but then it changed to rain. :(
ReplyDeletesounds like fun
ReplyDeleteCathy
as much as things change they same the same, just different roles we play, we once the child are now the mom's, Happy New Year, safe sledding to you and yours,
ReplyDeleteI loooved sledding as a kid! We have some snow here (Indiana), but I don't have a sled, boo. I'll have to find a garbage can lid. ;)
ReplyDeletewe haven't had snow since 1985. One year since we had a few flurries and everyone in the neighborhood was in their front yard on their cell phones.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have snow.........thankfully.......but I can hear echoes from the past of children saying similar things!
ReplyDeleteNo, things never do change. :-)
ReplyDeleteI miss alot snow here in colombia

I'm with Dad all the way. Kids have to learn to play and in this way become responsible for many basic things. I watch for neighbors kids to play in the snow. Sadly there's only one family that plays in the snow.
ReplyDeleteSounds very familiar....Mom imagines trips to the emergency room, Dad remembers his childhood. Been there! xx
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!! :)
ReplyDeleteStanding while sledding on the ramps?? That's a new one. Ah, boys, wild and crazy boys! I know the things whereof I speak.
ReplyDeleteWe have similar conversions. It's all part of being a Mom .
ReplyDeleteBoys will be boys they just wanna have fun.
ReplyDeleteNope but how fun that must be!
ReplyDeleteWish we had snow here!!!
Happy Monday, sweetie!
We did some sledding yesterday too! Lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteYep, some things never change, like mom and dad having differing ideas of what constitutes play and what's dangerous.
ReplyDeleteWe would be playing if we had snow! Sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteoh i am a little jealous...smiles...we had slush the other day but very little snow sadly....i love to sled...so i know they are having a blast...
ReplyDeleteChicago is still waiting and waiting and waiting. We've had unused sleds for 2 years now! Tragic. Glad everyone had fun!
ReplyDeleteSigned,
A Little Bit Jealous
Oh great! The 'some things will never change thing', makes me sigh!
ReplyDeleteAnnmarie, Please keep all the snow up north! Our goal is to avoid as much snow as possible...one of the many reasons that we moved to East Tennessee. Have a healthy and happy New Year! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteA very Happy New Year to you and yours, my friend! xo
ReplyDeleteOh my...well as long as the sledding path does not take them into a busy street!
ReplyDeleteMy problem Annmarie is I CAN imagine what a snowy Christmas would be like, and I would adore it - even just once in my life. The kids must be having a ball!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours!
R.
I know exactly what you mean...but I think you really have to be a Mum to feel this way.
ReplyDeleteNo snow for us thankfully.
Glad the children are enjoying the snow...don't worry you will be able to relax in the Spring!!
Thank you for the lovely comment on my blog...as you can see, I have followed back.
ReplyDeleteUntil a few years ago I would have been right in the thick of things with the sledding and snowballing!
Happy New Year in advance and may it brings lots of love, laughter and happiness. God bless from a far away country.
ReplyDeleteIn my home in the tropics right now the issues would be associated with swimming in the sea - swim where it's safe, use the outside shower when you come back, don't leave wet clothes on the floor , finish your chores before you go swimming etc.. My kids have never seen snow and would probably go wild if they did! :) Happy new year to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteHi Annemarie,
ReplyDeleteSuch a hilarious description of the situation with kids and sledges ... I totally identify with it a few years back when our sons were younger!
Happy New Year to you and your lovely family - Enjoy the snow and keep calm :-)
lots of love from
Nina
No snow here. Happy New Year to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Your kids really do know how to have fun :)
ReplyDeleteHave a prosperous and blessed New Year ahead, Marie :)
Boys and sleds. Thank God I only had one boy. Five girls gave me fits in other ways..... so it's always an interesting life!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment on my blog. I'm a new follower!

Snow is one big distraction, isn't it? Here in the south, when we get snow, everything stops and everyone plays. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings for the new year!
Can you send some of your snow to us.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some but mostly up the mountains, it's disappeared now. The kid along the street with the new sled has been creating uts in the front lawn.
Happy New Year to you and the family AnnMarie
LOL!! Sounds like our house!!!! Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteAll sounds very similar to our house when my kids were young. Now they are 18 and 22 so they make their own risk decisions these days.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for 2013.
Happy New Year! I hope 2013 is filled with only great health and happiness!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, let them play! Sounds like everyone is having a great time in the snow:) Have a blessed New Year's Eve, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteAnd the fact that things remain the same is simply womderful ... Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWanted to pop-in and wish you all the best in 2013 for you and your family! Thanks for supporting my little blog:-) LOVD tidings, Lilly
ReplyDeleteno some things just repeat themselves!! i have really enjoyed your blog this last year and am looking forward to the next--happy new year :)
ReplyDeleteKids playing in the snow...is anything more fun than that? Now I watch my grandkids in the snow. Some things never change.
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny!
ReplyDeleteAnnmarie! such a fun post. I loved the run on and on and on sentence. Great. I would be like your husband, awh let them play. I am a Cub Scout leader and we spend half of the time playing either 'Red Light, Green Light' or 'Red Rover'. I love to see boys play and be kids. Those that get to play end up being the best adults, I think.
ReplyDeleteoh and yes, your daughter and I would love to share our boot fetish. hahahaha.
Ha! I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I think this is a universal mom concern and every single child hears this. ;P
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! Be blessed in 2013!!
<><
I used to tell them after every snow fall, do not stand on the sleds. The one year I did not remind them, #3, who was 14 at the time, stood on the sled. He fell and broke his arm right below the shoulder on his first trip down the hill. The rest of the kids do not stand on the sleds without reminders now...
ReplyDeleteI bought 3 new plastic sleds Saturday at the hardware store, as the old ones have all cracked/broken. The 2 cheap $10 ones broke when they ran into stuff. The $30 huge one is still intact. Maybe I should buy another big one when I get paid?
Nope, some things never do change ;)
ReplyDeleteNope they sure don't. New follower.
ReplyDeleteLisa DuVal
Happy new year. Best wishes to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteGod bless us all
We've been dying to go sledding once the snow fell here, but the hills we like to go to say they aren't open because we didn't get enough. What?! My yard is covered in the stuff!
ReplyDeleteHope your kids had a super fun time getting to have playtime in the snow!
Have a Happy New Year and wonderful slide into 2013. Let them play.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I would be your twin in this situation.
ReplyDeleteHave a great New Year's eve, friend!
LOL...that was my husband and me thirty years ago .
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family, sounds like so much fun in the snow, we are having so much hot weather at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI really hope we have one or two really good snows this year my kiddo is at that fun age where he wants to play!
ReplyDeleteI love how you say different things and their father just keeps repeating himself!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining Evelyn and myself at our first ever Let's Get Social Sunday hop! Already following via GFC. Have a safe and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSnow is ruling over here too, but it's okay...I'd rather have them enjoying it than hating it like their *cough cough* mother. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Wish you an amazing year 2013!
ReplyDeleteKisses, Lucy :)
Hi Annmarie, Happy New Year to your and family. Wish you all the best in 2013.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week ahead,regards.
Mom is always the 'villain" - the one who will caution the children about being too rough, the one who is afraid that anyone would get hurt, and the one who would make them do chores and diminish the kids' play time. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year Annmarie.
we just got a dusting and then rain and then freezing ughhh nothing worthy of playing in.
ReplyDeleteTaking this time to wish you the happiest 2013 ever!!! Have enjoyed your blog posts greatly thank you for writing so openly :]
It won't change :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! What fun. I understand your worry but it is so nice that we have some snow this year isn't it? It seems so normal.
ReplyDeleteexactly! and i might get some stuff done while they're out there but someone comes in every ten min for an adjustment or a tattle!
ReplyDeletebut i'm glad mine got to use the sleds santa gave them last xmas, too! yay for snow! (until feb)
Hi Annmarie! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and following. Oh how I WISH we had snow! :-) I'm trying to follow you via GFC, but the button to follow won't click(I'll keep trying), in the meantime, I'll follow via RSS feed. May you and your family have a blessed New Year! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds EXACTLY like the mom and dad at my house. ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a happy and blessed new year!

ReplyDeleteYears since last I saw snow. Thank you for the memories.
Dad's are good at letting them play! We got some snow here too and my daughter loved it. Oklahomans aren't good at getting snow.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! :) Danica
ReplyDeleteyou guys have a great balance!
ReplyDeleteThere's NO fun quite like sledding! And the hike back up the hill definitely qualifies as exercise:)

Haha, no some things never change! Hope the boys have a blast playing and sledding in the snow--that's gotta be the true purpose of snow right? Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun in the snow, nothing quite like sledging. We haven't had enough snow here to do any, but there's still time...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you & your family.

Hahaha....yes, some things don't change:P Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteI want to play outside with my kids in the snow but it's TOO cold!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family! Yep, it sounds familiar. In places where it doesn't snow, substitute basketball, football, skateboarding, video games, ...etc in place of snow.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSo true! I do believe however, that I have the last word, not my husband! lol!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post! And oh, how I can look back and relate to when my brood was little. Sounds like such a fun day.... one that good memories are made on.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post! And oh, how I can look back and relate to when my brood was little. Sounds like such a fun day.... one that good memories are made on.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I really like your name. Mine is actually Anna Marie.
ReplyDeleteSounds absolutely perfect :) Here's to all the things that don't change!
ReplyDeletehappy new year! hearing this makes me miss the snow :)
ReplyDeleteI say let them play. You'll miss the moment when it's over.
ReplyDeleteHave a prosperous new year.
I agree, let them play. Time will come they'll have other things to do outside the house and that time, you won't see or hear them anymore. Wishing you many blessings for the year!
ReplyDeleteSounds like great fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Enjoy the winter and a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteA fun post. I hope they kids had a lot of fun playing :-)

Happy new year. Ha ha, dad and their sons....always on the same page when it comes to anything sporty that will make mom nervous. Always.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful snow that can sustain sledding. Yeah for the kids.
