That Joy Joy Joy Deep Down
My new years word is thankfulness. I began this year trying to pay attention to my blessings. I am constantly shocked at all I take for granted! So many blessings in a single day! How did I not notice? This weekend again provided opportunities to realize my blessings. The comforter that matches my bedroom was 75% off at Kohls, finally a good hair day, the refs raising my son's arms for victory 11 different times ... yes! The Glory Bees are getting more frequent as my eyes are opening. But that joy deep down in my heart happened today, when my husband and I walked into Mass as the procession was just about to begin. Our 3 youngest boys have religious instruction before Mass so they are always there in church before us. When we walked in, we did not see the boys waiting in the back of the church for us but in altar robes carrying the crucifix and the candles and serving at mass. The children that I bore, embracing the faith that I love, serving. Without being told, and because they wanted to. A most beautiful beautiful sight! Beats a sale or a win any day.

What a beautiful post to read and an awesome word for the year! JOY, love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a total joy knowing your children are walking with the Lord. There isn't anything much sweeter than that.
Blessings,
<><
Yes! I think thankfulness opens the eyes to all the wonder that we have before us....in our relationships, children, home, job, etc.
ReplyDeletePersonally I am so, so grateful for the tender mercy and long suffering, forgiveness, acceptance, and grace of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
What a wonderful post :)
Blessings abound if we take the time and quiet our hearts and minds to take them in. What a gift!
ReplyDeleteMay this year bring you and your family more blessing
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear the kids are following your footsteps on their own. And Kohl's has some really awesome deals!
ReplyDeleteOne of my proudest mom moments was when my daughter, then 4 years old, insisted on saying Grace at the Family Christmas dinner. She brought half the room to tears. It was such a blessing to this mama to know that I am doing something right.
ReplyDeleteOh, without being told and just wanting to . . . No more blessing could we have from our children than this, Annmarie! May God bless you and yours always!
ReplyDeletenothing more to say
ReplyDeleteHaving our children embrace our faith and truth in these challenging times is truly a blessing and more important than anything else. You've taught your children well!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea, I love your attitude on this...I plan to do the same. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have every right to be filled with pride.
ReplyDeleteThankfulness is the beauty of life. You've got some wonderful things to be thankful for, and I appreciate that you highlight them, instead of the negative.
ReplyDeletewe all have much to be thankful for. I try to go through them as I lay my head on the pillow.

Hallelujah, I'll say it does!
ReplyDeleteMy word for the year is gratitude. You're right: we have so much to be thankful for; we just need to open our eyes and see.

ReplyDeleteBonza analogy.
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing about your boys! It shows that you are raising them the right way :)
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely lovely. How dear to see that your children have embraced your faith. Seeing them take a step of service too, I imagine you were totally moved. :) You have a great word for the year. Mine is Reach. I post about it here: http://heresmytakeonit.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-one-word-2013-reach.html
ReplyDeleteFor me it covers so many ways I see God wanting to work in my life. I'm dropping by today from Our Everyday Harvest's blog hop. I hope you can stop by and say hello.
Wonderful! Nothing makes a mother more happy than that!
ReplyDeleteStudies have shown that being grateful everyday makes you a happier person. I believe it. When I was little and read Pollyanna, I decided to play the glad game. Which is about the same time that I started having out loud convos with God (people always thought I was talking to myself). Don't know when I got out of both habits but I really need to start working on re-establishing them. For myself and my family. Thanks for the reminder. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet blessing, and a memory you will hold on to forever! The best way to count your blessings and have joy is to live with a thankful heart in every moment! All year around in every hour of every day God is richly blessing us.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, JOY, and love!

ReplyDeleteMy word was Thankful, too. I know what you mean. Both my girls sing in our church choir every Sunday at mass and sometimes I have a hard not tearing up (sniff) it's so emotional for me.

God Bless - Nita
It is so nice to see our children grow in their faith. A very Blessed thing.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this- about 15 minutes ago I asked our 2 1'2 year old twin son if he wanted to go to church tomorrow to prep him for the weekend and he said "yes" like he did not even have to think about it- my husband asked his sister if she wanted to play with the kids or sit with us and she said with you! so sweet when your efforts as a parent show through!
